Two iron workers died yesterday after they fell from the fifth floor through an open elevator shaft at a construction site where they were installing steel at a Manhattan church. Newsday reported this horrific accident and quoted the New York City Building Commissioner, Robert LiMandri, as stating it appeared the workers did not have the proper fall protection, including harnesses, safety nets or a support platform.
